Banks and other financial intermediaries adhering to the ABF
The banks and other financial intermediaries that are entered in Banca d'Italia's supervisory registers and lists, or otherwise authorized under the applicable legislation, are required to adhere to the ABF and may be the subject of complaints.
These include:
- Banks
- Financial intermediaries entered in the register referred to in Article 106 of the Consolidated Law on Banking ('Albo Unico')
- Loan guarantee schemes entered in the list referred to in Article 112(1) of the Consolidated Law on Banking
- Payment institutions
- Electronic money institutions
- NPL managers entered in the register referred to in Article 114.5 of the Consolidated Law on Banking
- Poste Italiane, limited to Bancoposta operations.
Foreign banks and financial intermediaries established in another EU Member State and operating in Italy under the freedom to provide services are not required to adhere to the ABF if they adhere or are subject to a foreign out-of-court dispute resolution scheme that is part of FIN-NET, i.e. the financial dispute resolution network. In these cases, customers may contact the ABF to find out which scheme the intermediary adheres to.
Banks and other financial intermediaries must notify Banca d’Italia of their adherence to the ABF, as well as of any subsequent changes, using the form available at the bottom of this page. They may adhere to the ABF either through the Conciliatore BancarioFinanziario or directly.
